Project Overview
This project involved comprehensive soil and topographical studies for airfields in Kenya and Somalia. The primary objective was to design modern aviation infrastructure using innovative soil stabilization technologies as an alternative to traditional asphalt or cement concrete.
Roles and Responsibilities
Engineer in Joint Venture
- Served as a lead engineer within the GC-Soil Solutions-IMSA EPC Joint Venture.
- Supervised technical studies and engineering designs for multiple airfield locations.
- Managed the integration of EBS Soil Solutions technology into airfield construction plans.
Key Activities and Achievements
Technical Studies
- Soil Studies: Supervised comprehensive soil analysis to determine suitability for polymer-based stabilization.
- Topographical Surveys: Managed topographical studies for airfields in:
- Kamanga, Kenya
- Bossasso, Somalia
- Baidoa, Somalia
Engineering Design
- Airfield Infrastructure: Designed runways, taxiways, and parking aprons.
- Access Roads: Developed designs for airport access road networks.
- Drainage Systems: Studied and designed specialized drainage facilities for each site.
Innovative Technology Application
- Implemented the use of EBS Soil Solutions, a polymer-based soil stabilizer.
- This technology was utilized in lieu of traditional asphalt or cement concrete, providing a cost-effective and durable solution for regional airfields.
